For investors, we’ll collect more identification and financial information, so we can comply with our AML/CTF obligations.

When you visit our Website or interact with Square Peg through any other medium, we collect your personal information so that we can provide you with products and services, and improve or customise your experience with us.

Founders

If you are a founder seeking investment or an existing member of our portfolio, we may collect and hold personal information including:

  • your employment history, professional and personal references, resume and qualifications; and
  • details of your business or prospective business, including registration details, financial information, pitch decks and other relevant business information;

Investors

If you are or may become an investor in Square Peg, or you represent a person who is or may become investor in Square Peg, we (either directly or through a third party fund administrator or service provider) may collect and hold personal information including;

  • financial information, including bank account details and bank statements;
  • information about the funds in which the investor invests and the investment products and financial services supplied to the investor;
  • data required for Square Peg to comply with AML/CTF Laws, including any information required to verify your identity;
  • your nationality and country of birth; and
  • government identifiers, including your tax file number (TFN).

This type of information is generally collected and maintained by Square Peg’s external fund administrator.

What about sensitive information?

We also collect sensitive information about you, with your consent. Sensitive information is a subset of personal information that is given a higher level of protection under the Australian Privacy Principles. Sensitive information means information relating to your racial or ethnic origin, health, political opinions, religion, trade union or other professional associates or memberships, philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation or practices, criminal records, health information or biometric information.

Provided that you consent, your sensitive information may only be used and disclosed for purposes you have consented to, or which are directly related to the primary purpose for which the sensitive information was collected, including:

  • for the purpose of us maintaining a comprehensive company file;

Square Peg operates primarily in Australia, Singapore and Israel, but may also operate in various other countries from time to time. So that we can provide our services effectively, we may need to share some of your information with organisations outside Australia. Sometimes, we may need to ask you before this happens. Our current list of overseas countries includes Singapore, Israel, New Zealand, the Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Germany, Japan and the United States of America.

We may store your information in a cloud or other types of networked or electronic storage. As electronic or networked storage can be accessed from various countries via an internet connection, it’s not always practicable to know in which country your information may be held. If your information is stored in this way, disclosures may occur in countries other than those listed.

In certain circumstances, your personal information may be shared with the ATO, and / or ASIC which will then exchange this information with similar overseas regulatory bodies as a result of Australia’s participation in the Common Reporting Standard and Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act.

Where in accordance with this Privacy Policy, we disclose your personal information to third parties who reside outside Australia, you agree and acknowledge that we are not required to ensure that those third parties comply with Australian privacy laws. Overseas organisations may be required to disclose information we share with them under a foreign law. In those instances, we will not be responsible for that disclosure.
