We’re delighted to have led Mindverse's US$5M Seed round, backing them on their audacious vision to personalise AI experiences.
Over the last two years, AI players such as OpenAI have made extraordinary progress in turning universal knowledge into the cornerstone of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Singapore-based AI technology company, Mindverse, challenges the idea of a unified model, believing instead that the future of AI must embrace a range of AI intelligences that mirror the diversity and uniqueness of their creators. Mindverse’s goal is to pioneer a new kind of AI, Artificial Diversified Intelligence (ADI), to ensure human individuality remains at the centre of future AI development.
Meet the team behind Mindverse
Square Peg has been backing AI founders and startups for more than a decade, but recent advances in AI capability have been like nothing we've ever seen. We’re currently in the midst of a generational AI shift that will move from generalised language models to personalised experiences. We’re incredibly excited to be working with the Mindverse team as they create the building blocks that will bring this diversified AI future to life.
Co-Founder and CEO Dr Felix Tao, and co-founder and COO, Kisson Lin, have been at the forefront of key evolutionary points in AI development and commercialisation in some of the largest and most important tech companies of our generation, and both first met during their time working at Meta’s Facebook.
Felix was integral to developing Facebook’s content recommendation and classification algorithm which led to the evolution of the Facebook feed from being just social to include social and other relevant information. He was later the Founding Director of Alibaba Cloud’s Neuro-Symbolic Lab where he led efforts to build AI systems with strong cognitive abilities. Kisson kickstarted channel partnerships at Instagram and Facebook in Singapore and the USA, before joining ByteDance’s TikTok to oversee monetisation and ad strategy for its global ecommerce platform launch.
Felix and Kisson are building an exceptional team at Mindverse, and we are impressed with the company’s early product velocity.
The problem Mindverse is solving
The idea for Mindverse was hatched well before the recent AI hype, with its founders beginning the journey to create an AGI-native agent creator tool back in mid-2020, with Mindverse formally founded in early 2022.
Central to Mindverse's vision is the development of personalised models that empower individualised AI with long-term memory and complex reasoning abilities. This innovation serves as the foundation for Mindverse's flagship products: Mebot for individuals and MindOS Studio for businesses.
Mebot, available on desktop and iOS, offers individuals a deeply personalised experience, acting as a digital “second brain” to enhance productivity by learning and memorising user habits, ideas, and preferences.
MindOS Studio is designed for businesses, enabling the creation of AI-native websites with dynamic, personalised chat experiences and interfaces. Unlike traditional GPTs, MindOS’s agents will seamlessly integrate into websites as chatbots that are able to generate personalised user interfaces in real-time, making it an invaluable tool for sectors requiring nuanced, multimodal information presentation, such as e-commerce, real estate, and travel. For example, a travel agency may use MindOS Studio to instantly create travel plans, hotel packages and a map for the user on demand, rather than requiring the users to click through several sections on the website to gather the plan themselves.
What’s next for Mindverse?
While Mindverse is still very early in its product growth journey, we are excited about the team’s vision and what they are building. Over the coming months, Mindverse will continue growing its research and product development teams.
We’re inspired by their ambitious vision and proud to back them as they work to bring their technology to the forefront of AI advancements.
Welcome to the Square Peg team, Felix, Kisson, and Team Mindverse!
